When told the tale of this fish's creation, a Doman boy is said to have attempted to create more fish with inky scales. It did not end well for the carp in his father's prized pond.

This subspecies of lightscale is unique for having scales that look as though they had ink dripped upon them. According to Far Eastern legend, it came into being when a monk skilled at calligraphy held a brush over the One River and spilled a few drops of ink into the water.
