The banded markings of this moderately large wavekin set it apart from other varieties of peacock bass.

When viewed on the peacock bass spectrum, this species is on the gaudier end of the scale. Despite its brazen coloring, however, this wavekin is adept at concealing itself amongst the reeds while on the hunt for prey.
